2022 Resolutions for the New Year

First of all, I’d like to thank you for supporting my work and motivating me to continue trucking along. I’m not a big resolutions guy, but I would like to share what my 2022 resolutions are for my podcast, YouTube, and social media channels. My personal resolutions usually are limited to staying healthy and trying to be a better version of myself than I was the previous year.

2022 Resolutions for the Saving Lives Podcast

The podcast now has over 163,000 downloads thanks to people like you. This is the beginning of the third year of the podcast and I am enjoying creating content for it. As with everything else, my time is limited to be able to create content. In 2020, I was able to knock out 50 episodes. In 2021, I created just 34 episodes. As my resolution, I am going to try to create an episode a week to keep things consistent. The format is likely to remain the same as I do not hear complaints about the way I currently do things. I may create some shorter podcasts providing blurbs on articles or current trends in medicine.

Feedback is always welcome, though. Can’t say I am planning for longer format podcasts as when I sit down by myself to record this stuff I get bored and distracted easily. If you’d like to be a guest and discuss something with me, reach out and we will get it done. To grow further on the podcast-front, I’ll need your help by leaving me a review on whatever podcast service you use such as Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

Resolution: A podcast a week. Let’s get it.

2022 Resolutions for eddyjoemd.com

Last year, I was fortunate to have 198,000 visitors to my website. That’s an insane number for me because on average over 500 people came to my page a day to check out the content. That’s quite the compliment. 28% of the visits to my site came from search engines. The rest came from instagram and the other places I post content. In order for this to actually be passive income, I hope that I can improve my search engine optimization to allow for more traffic to come in on that front. I’m well aware of how obtrusive the ads are but right now they’re necessary to cover the costs of everything. I could have a paid-only type platform but given that my audience is generally-speaking at the beginning of their careers, it doesn’t feel right to charge you all for the content.

There are various key-content pages such as my lactate page that I plan on finishing up. My page on vasopressors also needs to be cleaned up quite a bit. Needless to say, I have numerous pages which are works-in-progress which I intend to complete. It’s just challenging given everything else I am doing.

Resolution: Exceed 200,000 visits and have search engine visits encompass 35% of the traffic.

2022 Resolutions for YouTube

I don’t know what to make of YouTube these days. The algorithm certainly isn’t favoring my content, or the content I am creating is just not that good. Taking personal responsibility and stating that maybe I am not good for YouTube may be the more appropriate route. I will keep trying different things to see what sticks but the attention spans on the internet are getting shorter. Perhaps I just don’t ask people to hit the like button, subscribe, and hit the notification bell enough. Revenue on my YouTube channel was down 43% compared to the previous year. I will try to create a video a month in 2022 to see if the ball gets rolling again.

Resolution: One quality video a month.

2022 Resolutions for Instagram

I have a love/hate relationship with Instagram. In October for 2021 my page was placed on probation of sorts because instagram claimed that I was sharing fake and harmful information. Despite me appealing this claim, I was never able to get to a person in Instagram. Although most people would wish to have the audience of over 70,000 people that I currently have, it’s still quite frustrating to know that one’s growth is stifled by algorithms that limit what everyone sees.

People have asked why I cross out the work COVID in my posts (or more recently I white them out). When a post is about COVID, it has substantial less reach. I have tested this out on numerous occasions. This is why I count on you all to help my content reach more people by sharing with your friends and colleagues.

As one could imagine, it’s challenging to create formal posts and then respond to everyones comments and questions. This is why I am grateful for the community where everyone takes care of each other and tries to answer the questions. Even though I cannot regularly create posts, nor find things that are worthwhile of posting, I will try to post an article that everyone can benefit from every day on my stories.

Hopefully, the community will reward me with being able to reach 100,000 followers. I know that’s an arbitrary number but the more people I can help around the world, the better. It is very rewarding to get messages from you all where information that I taught as helped save a life at a facility outside my own.

Resolutions: 100,000k followers. A story/article a day. A post a week.

Wrapping it up

Resolutions are really arbitrary. But I like them in this case to be able to hold myself accountable. They are marks that I will try to hit which in turn could help provide value to those of you who support my work. Wishing you all a bunch of health and peace in 2022.
